Two New Glimpses of Assassin’s Creed‘s Heroine in Black Flag

Two New Glimpses of Assassin's Creed‘s Heroine in Black Flag

We found out last month that Aveline, the star of Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation, would return in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, but only on PlayStation. Ubisoft has now shared a couple of screens of her in action and explains how exploring her memories fits with the game’s larger narrative.

For starters, Aveline will age. Her missions in Black Flag are “not directly related to the end of her story,” said Darby McDevitt, the game’s lead writer. Her appearance will provide about one more hour of content, the game’s director says.

Again, there won’t be an anchor character accessing her memories (like Desmond Miles). There wasn’t one in Liberation, either. The metastory will approach Aveline as an Abstergo fishing expedition among the genetic memories of a bunch of different people. “The present-day is set in Abstergo Entertainment – which is this fun, hip company to work for… at first,” McDevitt said. This folds in with earlier revelations that Black Flag would do away with anchor characters and the exploration of the past would be done from the perspective of a researcher.

Assassin’s Creed’s Only Heroine is Playable in Assassin’s Creed IV

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will release on Oct. 29. The Aveline missions will be available only on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, once that console arrives.

Sucker Punch on inFamous Second Son: Cole “Will not be Returning”

inFamous Second Son

inFamous: Second Son takes place 7 years after the “Cole McGrath episodes” and stars newcomer Delsin Rowe as he tries to evade the DUP in Seattle. That much we know.

What we haven’t heard is anything to do with Cole and him possibly appearing in the sequel (I won’t spoil anything to do with inFamous 2). Lucky for us, Michael McClain, QA Manager and Forum Moderator at Sucker Punch, gave out some juicy piece of news about Second Son in the forums.

Replying to a question that simply asked where Cole was, Michael gave this response:

Second Son is an original storyline in the inFamous universe, featuring an all new lead protagonist, Delsin Rowe, with a new origin story. Cole MacGrath’s legacy from the first two inFamous titles ultimately concluded following the final events of inFamous 2 and he will not be returning. The inFamous universe holds so many interesting storylines and characters that we wanted to explore a new story arc for the franchise.

When asked why continue the inFamous franchise without Cole, and not just create a new IP, Michael said the following:

The inFamous universe holds so many interesting characters that we wanted to explore a new storyline and hero, while still staying rooted in the open world that the franchise is known for. Second Son is a brand new storyline, but does take place several years following the concluding events of inFamous 2.

The core of that universe is rooted in the idea of an ordinary person getting super powers and deciding how to use them. That’s the inFamous universe that we’re all so excited to share with you.

Then, in another post, he talked about Delsin’s powers:

As you saw from the trailer, Delsin will have smoke powers in Second Son but that’s only the tip of the iceberg. He’s capable of so much more than you saw in the announce trailer…

As for why Second Son takes place in Seattle? It’s pretty simple:

As Sucker Punch is based right outside of Seattle, and many of us have lived there our entire lives, we wanted to pay homage to our hometown and backyard. The city of Seattle has a unique personality all of its own and we wanted to capture that in Second Son. Seattle is a realistic city and not just some generic non-descript location, so we’re also to bring a whole new level of realism to the storyline, rooting it in a location that players can relate to in the real world.

Is the lack of Cole a deal breaker for you? Or are you just happy that they’re making another inFamous game? Let us know in the comments below.

Skyrim Dawnguard PS3 DLC Release Close to Happening?

The lack of this particular content ever getting a release date on Sony’s platform has been a serious point of contention for owners of that version of the “Elder Scrolls V.” While Dawnguard had a release date in June for Xbox 360 gamers, it appeared it would never see the light of day for those with the Sony PS3. However, that may soon change as a new tweet from Bethesda Studios brings hope.
The company tweeted earlier this evening of Wednesday, November 7th:

“To update: we’re also close on new Skyrim content for PS3 and PC.”

The tweet follows several others the company had regarding the game a few days ago. One involved the new trailer for Dragonborn DLC, while another updated fans that an update to the creation kit for Skyrim is now available on Steam. The latest one is rather unclear on what content is being talked about, and teases fans that something will finally be available for their version of the game.

The rumors will now start to swirl over exactly which DLC they’re talking about here. Some gamers are hopeful it means the Dawnguard add-on they have lacked for months. Others believe it will mean the upcoming Dragonborn DLC. At this point, Playstation 3 owners are likely to welcome any downloadable content for their game, as it’s been a serious issue with their version of the “Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” game.
