The big screen adaptation of Eidos Montreal’s Deus Ex: Human Revolution has been augmented with a director, Scott Derrickson, according to a report from Deadline. Derrickson is perhaps best known for his work The Exorcism of Emily Rose, the 2008 remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still and Sinister, his most recent project.
According to Deadline, Derrickson will pen the Deus Ex script with C. Robert Cargill, his co-writer on Sinister.
“Deus Ex is a phenomenal cyberpunk game with soul and intelligence,” Derrickson said of the project. “By combining amazing action and tension with big, philosophical ideas, Deus Ex is smart, ballsy, and will make one hell of a movie. Cargill and I can’t wait to bring it to the big screen.”
The film will reportedly hew closely to the events of the 2011 game, focusing on cybernetically augmented security officer Adam Jensen’s efforts to uncover the truth behind a global conspiracy.
Eidos has another property, Kane & Lynch: Dead Men, currently undergoing the transition from video game to feature film.
