Sony has announced that lifetime sales of the PS3 have reached 70 million “sold in,” and PlayStation Move sales have surpassed 15 million units worldwide.
The latest milestone puts the firm virtually neck-and-neck with Microsoft, which less than a month ago announced that 70 million Xbox 360 consoles have been sold worldwide.
Xbox 360 launched in November 2005, and PS3 in November 2006.
As of March 31 this year, PS3 sales stood at 63.9 million units, while lifetime Wii sales stood at 96.56 million units as of June 30.
Last month, Microsoft’s reported a year-on-year decline in Xbox 360 revenues and shipped units for the first quarter of its fiscal year 2013.
Today the PlayStation corporation also claimed there are now 3,590 games available for PS3.
